A sneak-peek…

This blog documents the production of Replicant’s first movie - “The Prisoner” (the other option for translating the title was “The Captive” and I’m still not sure). The blog is in Polish, as the film itself is going to be - but feel free to follow anyway for daily updates on our progress.

As of now you’ll be seeing more and more props, both aquired and manufactured by our prop department. In a week or two we should let you have a peek at our main characters in costume and soon after that we should have our first teaser put together for promotional/fundraising purposes.

If you’re intimidated by Polish language, just follow us here - we’ll be posting significant updates on the production in English at ReplicantFilmProd.

A bit of detail..

Where is ReplicantFilmProd. based?

We are all Polish and we live in Poland. Most of us come from different parts of the country, but we all study in Warsaw - that’s how we met.

If you’re all Polish and you’re filming in Polish, why Tumblr and why in English?

Well, inspired by the likes of Corey Vidal (of ApprenticeA), FreddieW, or FilmRiot (a show by Triune Films) - we decided to chose YouTube as our “means of distribution”. YouTube allows artists practically to market themselves, without the need to seek the distributor etc. And since YouTube is a global platform and creating English subtitles is easy once you get the movie done… We think it’s only natural that we choose to adress our work to the wider audience.

Why not make a film in English?

The core of any film is acting. And without language fluency there is no good acting. An entire film spoken in English with heavy Eastern-European accent could be a valuable piece of comedy, but not exactly what we wish to achieve..

Maybe if we reach at least some level of success, we might be able to make something in English in the future.. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Introductions…

What is Replicant Film Productions?

As of now it is a dream. Hopefully in the future it will become a fully fledged film production company. At the moment it’s just a few people with not that much experience in filmmaking.

How are we going to work towards fulfilling the dream?

What better way of learning to make films, than to make one? And what better way to make a name for yourself, than making your first work an ambitious, one-hour feature with compelling story and gritty action sequences?

Impossible?

Just wait and see…
